Summary

Aside does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. There is no analytics, no tracking, no telemetry, and no account system.

Data Storage

All your text and tab data is stored locally on your Mac in the app's container directory. Nothing leaves your computer.

Network Requests

The App Store version makes zero network requests.

The direct download version includes Sparkle for checking for app updates. Sparkle contacts our update server to check for new versions. No personal data is sent. You can disable update checks in Settings.

License Keys

If you purchased Aside directly from our website, your license key is validated locally on your device using cryptographic verification. No license server is contacted.

Accessibility Permission

The direct download version of Aside may request Accessibility permission to capture selected text from other applications. This permission is used exclusively for the capture-selection feature. Aside does not log or transmit any captured text.

Analytics

Aside includes no analytics, no tracking, no telemetry, and no crash reporting.

Third-Party Services

Aside has no backend servers, no databases, and no third-party SDKs beyond Sparkle (direct version only) for update checking.

Children's Privacy

Aside does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13.
